Pleasant Point Railway & Historical Society – Timaru District

Pleasant Point Railway & Historical Society is a volunteer-run heritage railway and museum located in Pleasant Point, just outside Timaru in South Canterbury. Operated by passionate local members, the site preserves and maintains historic steam and diesel locomotives, railway carriages, and original station buildings, offering visitors a hands-on glimpse into New Zealand’s rail history.

On public running days, visitors can enjoy short heritage train rides on restored rolling stock, experience working locomotives in action, and explore the historic station precinct and museum displays.
