The Great Mid Canterbury Critter Competition

Young hunters and their families are invited to take part in a weekend of outdoor adventure during the Great Mid Canterbury Critter Competition, running from Friday 18 to Sunday 20 September 2026. Participants will hunt designated pest species, including possums, hares and feral cats, before gathering from 11am on Sunday for the weigh-in, prizegiving and stories from the weekend.

Entry costs $25 per child or $50 per family, with plenty of prizes to be announced. Funds raised will support the Mayfield Community Pool Heating Project, giving families an opportunity to enjoy time outdoors while contributing to local pest control and a valued community facility.
